Code2College is dramatically increasing the number of minority and low-income students who enter and excel in STEM undergraduate majors and careers
Death of Tech Talent
Central Texas is facing a crisis. Despite its regional reputation for innovation, there remains a shortage of skilled, local talent to fill a wide variety of technical roles to support the nearly 5,000 technology companies and research institutions in the Austin area.
Lack of Diversity in STEM
Facing a talent surplus and opportunity deficit, many girls, students of color, and low-income students lack two of the critical factors for entering pathways into STEM careers: exposure and practical experience. Code2College is trying to change that.
Herein lies an opportunity to develop a pipeline of diverse, local talent for our region: Code2College. Our program is a multi-year, career prep and college access program that leverages local volunteer technical talent to teach coding and web development skills to traditionally underrepresented students to push them to and through college, and into successful STEM careers.
